Location

Located on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls, Devil’s Pool is accessible exclusively through guided tours operated by Green Safaris, departing from the Livingstone Island Launch Site. The island is reached by boat, navigating the fast-moving channels of the Zambezi River. Access to the pool is highly seasonal, dependent on the Zambezi River's water levels. Typically, the pool is accessible from mid-August to late December, with the most reliable conditions occurring between October and November when the river flow is at its lowest. 

The Experience

Upon arrival at Livingstone Island, visitors embark on a guided walking tour, exploring the island's unique geology, flora, and fauna. Depending on the season and water levels, guests may have the opportunity to swim in Devil’s Pool, Angel’s Pool, or Rock Pool—natural infinity pools perched at the edge of the falls. Safety is paramount; experienced guides lead guests to the pools, ensuring secure footing and providing assistance as needed. 

Tour Options 

Livingstone Breezer: A 1½-hour morning tour, 

Lunch Tour: A 2½-hour midday tour, including a gourmet meal, priced at approximately $200 per person.

High Tea Tour: A 2-hour afternoon tour, featuring high tea, priced at approximately $175 per person.

Each tour includes return boat transfers, a guided island tour, and the opportunity to swim in the pools, subject to water conditions. 

 What to Bring & Safety Considerations

Attire: Swimwear, sturdy water shoes, sunscreen, and a hat.

Fitness Level: A moderate level of fitness is recommended, as accessing the pools involves navigating rocky surfaces.

Age Restrictions: The minimum age for swimming in the pools is 12 years.

Safety: All tours are conducted by licensed guides with a strong safety record. It is illegal and dangerous to attempt visiting the island independently. 

Seasonal Availability

Due to fluctuating water levels, Devil’s Pool is typically accessible from mid-August to late December. During the wet season (January to March), the island is closed to ensure visitor safety. It's advisable to check current conditions before planning your visit.
